Barwon Health began utilising FocusPro and our business intelligence software, IntelPlus in 2017 before implementing our clinical costing application, CostPro in 2020.
Barwon Health is one of the largest regional health services in Australia, with two major sites (University Hospital Geelong and McKellar Centre) and 21 sites across the Geelong region in Victoria. It employs 8,700 staff and services a catchment of 500,000 covering the full spectrum of care services.

Initiative
Due to the recent significant growth at Barwon Health, the Commercial Finance Team faced the challenge of keeping up with manual reporting and analytics as well as the increasing pressure to streamline its finance processes.
They sought a system that would automate reporting, be more efficient in managing a larger portfolio, and provide greater insights without expanding resources.
Outcome
FocusPro was attractive to the team for its design and ability to automate processes and reduce the time it takes to complete reporting cycles. Additionally, Barwon Health benefits from leveraging off the experience of the staff at CBS - Health Costing Experts with ongoing support.
What was once a manual process in Excel is now achieved at the click of a button. Human error normally associated with data entry is eliminated and significant time is saved. Productivity has increased and the system is easy to use.
The use of FocusPro ultimately led to Barwon Health receiving the Award for Innovation from the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).
