Costing and Business Solutions was formed in 1996 as a result of the need of public hospitals requiring specialist support and knowledge in Clinical Costing from a local New Zealand company.

Since forming CBS in 1996 company director Ross Wilson and his team has revolutionised the way district health boards throughout New Zealand manage their data. They are now offering their expertise further a field, particularly to businesses, education institutes or organisations in the service industry. Costing and Business Solutions was a finalist in the Health Innovation Awards in 2006, after installing its CostPro Data Warehouse and Activity-based costing system in nine DHBs throughout New Zealand.

CBS uses a process called data warehousing whereby all data generated within a workplace can be automatically used to generate daily reports, spreadsheets, graphs or other information.
